ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Hammad Azhar has claimed that the government has bought the economy out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and will soon witness growth.
While talking to media in Islamabad today (Sunday), Hammad Azhar said that the incumbent government had faced major economic crisis when it came to power.
Hammad Azhar said, “The government had to take stern steps despite their reluctance,” adding that the situation could be more than worst if the government didn’t take these steps.
Hammad Azhar said that the government’s top priority is to develop underprivileged areas of Pakistan, adding that billions of rupees were diverted towards projects in developed areas for facilitating the privileged class
He assured the people of Pakistan that the prices of other products will soon be decreased like the petroleum prices.
“Prices of commodities like onion, tomatoes, and flour have already witnessed a sharp decline,” he said while talking to media.
Commenting on Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list, Hammad Azhar said that Pakistan was placed on the list in February 2018 and since PTI government came into power they were able to implement on the 14 points of the 28-point implementation plan from the FATF.
Referring to inflation the minister said, “The inflation has witnessed a decline and if this continues then the interest rate could also come down.”
He also credited Prime Minister Imran Khan for successful signing of deal between the United States (US) and Taliban, saying that it was the victory of the 10-year old narrative of PM Imran.
