Google celebrated International Workers’ Day with a unique doodle on its homepage on Monday, May 1st. The doodle pays homage to the working class in the organized sector and features different professions, including doctors, engineers, and laborers, along with their tools and equipment.
May 1st is celebrated as a public holiday in several countries, including Pakistan, and has its roots in the labor movement. The movement demanded eight-hour workdays, allowing for eight hours of recreation and eight hours of rest.
Pakistan’s President, Dr. Arif Alvi, and Prime Minister, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, have separately paid tribute to laborers for their hard work and emphasized the need to protect their rights. On this day, Pakistan, along with other countries around the world, honors the contributions and sacrifices of the working class.
