MOSCOW: The World Health Organization (WHO) said that 16,558 people have infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) globally bringing the total number of confirmed cases above 179,000.
According to the WHO daily report on COVID-19, 179,112 cases have been reported globally, with 11,526 new ones over the past 24 hours, adding that the global death toll has jumped to 16,558.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to increase, WHO is devoted to working together with the countries on emergency vigilance and response, the WHO added.
The WHO further stated 167,511 cases had been reported across the globe, with 13,903 new ones, adding that the worldwide death toll had jumped by 862 to 6,606 on Tuesday.
Coronavirus death toll in Spain has reached to 2311, while 35,136 cases have been confirmed.
Italy is among the hardest-hit countries outside of China with 6077 deaths, and that number continues to rise by the hundreds every day. Last week, Italy’s death toll surpassed that of China.
