WASHINGTON: The tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases has exceeded 3.8 million globally, with the death toll surpassing 265,000.
Around the world, the pandemic has killed more than 265,094 people and infected over 3,820,656. The US has the highest 74,799 deaths, followed by Britain with 30,076, Italy with 29,684, Spain 25,857, and France 25,809 deaths.

Canada reported 4,232 fatalities and 63,496 infections due to coronavirus. Italy, which recorded its first coronavirus death at the end of February, has 29,684 fatalities, with 369 people succumbing to the disease in the last 24 hours.
Spain has recorded 25,857 fatalities with 168 in a single day and 253,682 infections. China has to date reported 4,633 deaths and 82,885 cases, with 77,957 recoveries.
France has reported 278 deaths in a single day, taking the tally to 25,809 deaths and 174,191 cases. The United Kingdom has reported 649 deaths during the last 24 hours, 30,076 fatalities, and 201,101 infections.
Turkey reported 131,744 coronavirus cases and 3,584 fatalities. In Belgium, 8,339 people succumbed to the disease while Brazil reported 8,588 deaths due to the coronavirus.
Over 165,929 people have infected while 1,537 people died of the virus in Russia. Israel has reported 16,310 coronavirus cases while 239 deaths.
Meanwhile, the death toll is 6,418 in Iran as the confirmed number of cases is almost 101,650. The tally of coronavirus cases in India crossed 53,045.
