Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan has announced the approval of landmark land reforms, addressing a long-standing demand of the region’s residents. This marks the first time such reforms have been introduced in the area.
The newly approved Land Reforms Bill will be presented to the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly for ratification. CM Khan emphasized that this initiative represents a crucial step toward granting land ownership rights to the public, a move expected to significantly benefit the region.

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, CM Khan highlighted that the land reforms reflect his administration’s commitment to public welfare and equitable development. He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to maintaining peace and implementing policies aimed at improving governance and socio-economic progress.
Last October, the GB cabinet had approved the creation of four new districts—Darel, Tangir, Roundu, and Yasin-Ghupis. This decision is expected to enhance administrative efficiency and provide better governance services to the people of these areas.
