KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah has confirmed that Ghulam Nabi Memon will be the new Inspector General of Police (IG) Sindh.
The new police chief has been appointed following the ouster of Mushtaq Mahar over his failure to deal with recent terror incidents in Karachi and rising crime in the province.
The chief minister confirmed that Ghulam Nabi Memon will be the new IG Sindh. He added that a notification will be issued in two days.
Te Sindh government has recommended the name of Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Karachi Ghulam Nabi Memon as IGP Sindh
The provincial government forwarded the name of Memon for the post during consultations with the federal government. Mohsin Butt and Ghulam Nabi Memon were considered for new IGP Sindh.
On May 18, Inspector General of Police (IG) Sindh Mushtaq Mahar was removed from his post on the directives of the chief minister over the terror acts in Karachi.
Mushtaq Mahar was directed to report to the establishment division and BPS-21 officer Dr Kamran Fazal was given additional charge as the police chief.
