KARACHI: Falling under District Malir, the Gadap Town became a haven for land grabbers and street crime under the alleged patronage of the district police.
According to details, the land mafia has occupied amenity and private plots on a large scale and sells land illegally. Further, the illegal business of sandstones continues in connivance with the police.
Relevant sources have claimed that the district police have turned a blind eye to the increasing crimes, including smuggling, kidnapping for ransom, drug supply or brothels, in Gadap Town.
According to the sources, several police officials, including Sub-Inspector of Police Ashraf Jan, are receiving bribes on daily basis. Furthermore, the district police have also allowed Farmhouse owners to resume their businesses, instead of government restrictions, and are also receiving Rs10,000 per week as bribe.
Meanwhile, the police are also receiving a huge amount of bribe from smuggles of Iranian diesel, sources said, adding that Iranian diesel is being sold illegally at five petrol pumps at the superhighway.
Sources further said that Gadap City Police receives bribe of more than Rs700,000 against the smuggling of Chalia. Moreover, Kochi Camp has become a drug distribution hub, under the patronage of police officials, including Constable Haji Iqbal and Head Constable.
