LAHORE: Four members of a family, including two children, have lost their lives when a speeding trailer truck crushed a motorcycle in Lahore on Sunday morning.
According to police sources, a fast-moving trailer truck crushed a motorcycle at the Sundar area of Lahore. As a result, four members of the family died on the spot.
The deceased were identified as Muneer Ahmed, Shakeela Bibi, seven-year-old Hammad and six-year-old Fatima. Receiving information about the mishap, rescue officers arrived at the scene and shifted the bodies to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities.
Meanwhile, the trailer driver managed to flee from the crime scene. Police further said that apparently the truck driver was driving the vehicle at a high speed and hit the motorcycle. The four victims died on the spot.
The police investigators with the help of closed-circuit television camera footage and witnesses were trying to trace and arrest the truck driver.
On July 19, four people were killed and 30 others injured when a passenger bus turned turtle due to over-speeding in Nawabshah’s Qazi Ahmed.
According to Motorway Police, the ill-fated bus was traveling from Mansehra to Karachi when it overturned in Qazi Ahmed. Police said the accident was caused by speeding.
After receiving information about the accident, Police and rescue teams reached the scene and started rescue operations.
The bodies and injured were shifted to Qazi Ahmed Regional Health Center for autopsies and treatment, respectively. Nine people were in critical condition and transferred to District Hospital Nawabshah police said.
