LAHORE: A man, his wife and two children died after a residential building collapsed in a housing society in Lahore on Saturday.
According to sources, a residential building in a housing society in the Kot Lakhpat area of the city collapsed. As a result, four people of a family died. Sources said five people were rescued from the debris of the collapsed building in injured condition.
The bodies and injured were shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment, respectively. The police said that they had launched an investigation into the incident and could not divulge details of the reasons behind the incident prior to a final probe.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar has expressed sorrow over the death of mother and son. Expressing sympathy to the bereaved family, he directed that the best medical facilities be provided to the injured in the incident.
The chief minister sought a detailed inquiry report of the incident from the administration as soon as possible. On the other hand, Lahore police have started an investigation into the incident.
Earlier, four members of a family, including a couple and their two children, were killed when the roof of a house collapsed due to heavy rain in Sawabi.
According to police sources, a roof of a house in the Yar Hussain area collapsed due to heavy rain. As a result, four members of a family were killed.
Citing the details of the deceased, police said a man, Raheem and his wife, Abida Parveen and their two one and half-year-old twin daughters died in the incident. Police and local people pulled out the bodies from the debris of the collapsed house and shifted them to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities.
