MULTAN: At least 4 more doctors and 5 para-medical staff have tested positive for the COVID-19 at Nishtar Hospital taking the tally to 17 in the city.
The infected doctors were shifted to Tayyab Erdogan Hospital in Muzaffargarh. Coronavirus cases have accelerated across the country and 14 more people have died of the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 93 in the country.
Earlier on Sunday, twelve doctors and six nurses had tested positive for coronavirus in Multan. They were exposed to the virus while treating patients. Two doctors have already died in Pakistan after contracting the virus due to a shortage of protective gear.
According to the National Command and Operation Center, 336 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours while a total of 95 patients have recovered. The coronavirus has claimed 30 lives in Sindh, 23 in Punjab, 34 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 01 in Islamabad, 02 in Balochistan and 03 in Gilgit Baltistan have killed from the coronavirus.
More than 2,656 coronavirus patients have been reported in Punjab, 1,452 were reported in Sindh, 744 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 230 in Balochistan, 224 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 131 in Islamabad, and Azad Kashmir have reported 40 patients.
Globally, the authorities have recorded more than 1.8 million cases and as many as 114,698 deaths since the COVID-19 emerged in China’s Wuhan city in 2019.
