The Meteorological Department has warned that most of the country’s plains will remain under the influence of an intense heatwave for four days, as reported by national media on Tuesday.
According to the Meteorological Department, from today until May 24, daytime temperatures in Sindh, southern Punjab, and Balochistan are expected to remain 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal. During this period, temperatures in central and upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to be 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal.
Yesterday, the highest temperature in the country was recorded in Dadu and Jacobabad at 48°C. The minimum temperature recorded in Karachi was 29°C. According to the Meteorological Department, the humidity level in the city’s air is 69%. It was also reported that sea breezes in Karachi are blowing at a speed of 11 kilometers per hour.
It is noteworthy that, according to the Meteorological Department, high atmospheric pressure is expected to persist throughout this week, due to which daytime temperatures in the southern regions of the country (Sindh, southern Punjab, and Balochistan) are expected to remain 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal from May 20 to 24.
During the same period, temperatures in the northern regions (central and upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan) are expected to be 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal. Due to the intense heat, dust storms/wind gusts are expected at some places in the plains.
