NEW DELHI: Professional wrestler and former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) star Dalip Singh Rana, better known as ‘The Great Khali’, has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Khali visited the party headquarters in Delhi on Thursday. His inclusion comes ahead of the polls in the state of Punjab which are being held on February 14 while voting will take place on March 10.
The Great Khali, 49, is a former World Heavyweight Champion who went on to be inducted into the prestigious WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2021 in the United States. Standing 7-foot-1 and tipping the scales at 347 pounds, Khali made his titanic presence felt from the moment he first joined the WWE Universe in 2006.
In his stint as a professional wrestler in the WWE, Khali went toe-to-toe with some of the greatest wrestling stars and won the World Heavyweight Championship in 2007.
Due to his success in WWE, The Great Khali made cameos in several Hollywood films, like MacGruber, Get Smart, and the Adam Sandler-starrer ‘The Longest Yard’. He has also appeared on the reality show Big Boss.
Khali hails from the small town of Dhiraina in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh. After his retirement from the WWE, he opened Continental Wrestling Entertainment, an Indian professional wrestling promotion and training academy.
