LAHORE: Former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) senator Mian Muhammad Atiq has been arrested in Lahore over the accusation of presenting fake property documents.
According to details, police arrested former MQM leader Mian Muhammad Atiq from Lahore yesterday. Rawalpindi police said that an FIR was registered against Muhammad Atiq and his associates in June 2021 at Ganj Mandi police station.
According to the police, the FIR was registered at the request of the district administration. Senator Muhammad Atiq and his accomplices were arrested in the case from Qila Gujar Singh police station area. Authorities say they will further investigate the case on merit.
Earlier in September 2017, Dr Muhammad Farooq Sattar, former head of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (Pakistan) said in a statement that we have not yet asked for the resignation from Senator Muhammad Atiq nor did we make this decision because of statements made by any political leader.
