Former Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has passed away at the age of 85. He had been moved to the hospital due to difficulty in breathing, as reported by international media.
According to a report, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi rendered valuable services for the country. He served as Prime Minister from 2003 to 2009. Two days ago, after being moved to the hospital, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi passed away during treatment.
The former Prime Minister’s family and the Malaysian Health Minister confirmed his death on social media, paying tribute to his services for the country. Abdullah Ahmad Badawi assumed office in 2003 after the resignation of Mahathir Mohamad.
Known by the nickname “Pak Lah” due to his simplicity and reformist agenda, his tenure focused on Malaysia’s economic stability and the development of basic infrastructure. However, the ruling coalition performed poorly in the 2008 elections.
The following year, in 2009, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi stepped down from his position. World leaders, Malaysian political figures, and renowned international political and social personalities have expressed condolences over his death.
