KARACHI: Former Deputy Commissioner District West Fayyaz Solangi allegedly involved in corruption of Rs 20 million, it has been revealed.
The alleged corruption over funds of garbage trucks was revealed in a letter by Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalawani to Chief Secretary, which was acquired by M.M News.
Relevant sources claimed that ADC One of District West had informed the Commissioner Karachi about the corruption. In this regard, Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shalawani had written a letter to the Chief Secretary regarding the corruption of DC West Fayyaz Solangi. As a result, the Chief Secretary dismissed Fayyaz Solangi from the post of DC West.
In the letter, Commissioner Karachi also requested an investigation into the alleged corruption of former DC West Fayyaz Solangi. The letter stated that a fund of Rs 20 million was released to former Deputy Commissioner West for repairing the garbage trucks. However, sources informed that only 10 vehicles were repaired out of 35.
Earlier, Saleemullah Odho, an officer of Ex-PCS (BS-18), Deputy Secretary, Finance Department has been transferred and posted with immediate effect as collector/ Deputy Commissioner West, Karachi until further orders.
Fayyaz Alam Solangi had been transferred and directed to report to Services, General Administration and Coordination Department.
