TANK: Former chief of the peace committee was killed along with his nephew in an armed attack after a clash erupted between two groups of people in district Tank on Saturday.
According to police sources, two groups of people exchanged fire over a dispute in Kari Wam area of tehsil Jindola in Tank district on Saturday morning. Later unidentified attackers of the clashed group opened fire on a vehicle. As a result, former chief of the peace committee, Turkestan Bhittani and his nephew, Ahmed Gul suffered severe bullet injuries and died on the spot, while three others were injured in the attack.
Turkestan Bhittani had headed the Aman Committee in the area to fight against the militancy in the region. The bodies and injured were shifted to District Hospital.
Police have started an investigation of the incident and launched search operation in the area to arrest the culprits.
