Food Department supplies more than 2 lakh sacks of damaged wheat to mill owners

KARACHI: Sindh Food Department has supplied more than two lakh sacks of damaged wheat from Malir Manzil Pump to flour mills and mill owners.

According to sources, lakhs of wheat sacks were kept in the Malir Manzil pump building which got damaged due to last year’s rains.

Sources said that wheat sacks were kept in the open during rainy days, thus spoiling the wheat due to rainwater and continuous sun exposure.

Sources also said that the wheat stored in the government warehouse was so bad that even animals could not eat it, however, the Sindh Food Department has forcibly supplied this wheat to flour mills and mill owners to hide their incompetence.
