Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar has advised Chinese nationals who filed pleas with the Sindh High Court (SHC) against alleged police harassment to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) established for addressing such concerns.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Lanjar said that Chinese citizens should channel their grievances through the Chinese Consulate or the Foreign Office, as per the protocols jointly devised by the Sindh government and the Chinese Consulate.
“These petitioners have no direct investment in Pakistan, nor is their petition legally sound,” the minister remarked. He added that he had instructed the Inspector General (IG) Police to form a team to engage with the Chinese Consul General in Karachi to address the issue.
Lanjar reiterated the Sindh government’s respect for Chinese nationals but underscored the importance of adhering to official procedures. “We value our Chinese partners greatly, but they must follow the SOPs set by the government in collaboration with Chinese authorities,” he said.
The minister also announced plans to meet with the Chinese Consul General to issue an official statement on the matter and resolve the concerns amicably.
