KARACHI: At least five people working at Governor House in Karachi tested positive for the novel coronavirus, health officials confirmed today (Tuesday).
According to details, the Sindh health department on November 18 tested 48 employees, of which 43 tested negative. The five COVID-19 patients are now in self-isolation and do not have severe symptoms.
Earlier this week, multiple departments at the Sindh Secretariat closed down after dozens of employees tested positive. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has contracted the virus as well.
Sindh reported 16 more deaths and 1,322 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours , bringing the number of confirmed infections to 166,033 in Sindh province. Shah said out of 1,382 new cases, 1,091 have been detected from Karachi, of them 503 from East, 257 South, 134 Central, 86 Malir, 82 Korangi and 29 West.
On Monday, the provincial government also imposed a ban on indoor dining services in all restaurants. Only open-air restaurants permitted to continue dine-in services.
