Police in Karachi rescued a kidnapped citizen and arrested five individuals—among them officers from the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC)—in connection with a short-term kidnapping for ransom in Bilawal Jokhio Goth in Karachi.
The arrested officers had abducted a man named Madad Ali from Bilawal Jokhio Goth last night and detained him at the AVLC office in Ajmer Nagri. They then demanded a ransom of Rs. 400,000 from the victim’s family.
Malir Cantt Police acted promptly, recovered the abductee, and arrested the five officers involved in the abduction.
The arrested personnel include Sub-Inspector Rashid Ali, PC Abdul Ghaffar, PC Riaz, PC Khalid, and PC Naeem. According to police, all suspects confessed to the crime during interrogation, and legal proceedings have now been initiated against them.
Last month, five policemen and their in-charge were suspended and arrested for shooting and killing two motorcyclists in Karachi’s Bahadurabad area.
The motorcyclists, Danish and Ali, were shot dead by a patrol party of Bahadurabad police station.
