KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Vice President Haleem Adil Sheikh has alleged that the Fisheries was generating extortion of Rs20million a month to the PPP rulers.
The statement came while addressing a protest staged by Pakistan Fishermen Union today (Tuesday) against alleged corruption in the Sindh Fisheries Department.
Haleem Adil Sheikh, MPA Shahnawaz Jadon, PTI leader Haji Muzaffar Shujra, Fishermen Cooperative Society leader Dr. Yousuf and other personalities joined the protest.
On the occasion, Haleem Adil criticized Bilawal Bhutto and said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s father was an educated person and would not sell cinema tickets.
Referring to the alleged corruption, Haleem Adil claimed that almost 250 jobs in the fisheries department were given on a political basis. He asked the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to start a probe into corruption in the fisheries department.
He further said, “We have started a protest campaign for the rights of poor fishermen,” adding that the poor fisherman was struggling to generate income for their families. “PPP is responsible for the plights of poor fishermen,” he added. The PTI leader also criticized MNA Qadir Patel in this regard.
The MPA also said that PPP has been ruling Sindh for the past 12 years, and has done nothing to improve the living standard of the people. “All ministers and advisors of the PPP government are wanted to the NAB in corruption cases,” he added.
