Firing claims one life in Gujranwala

GUJRANWALA: A security guard was killed in a firing incident outside a mosque in Gujranwala on Thursday.

The incident occurred near the Sasta Bazaar area in the jurisdiction of Peoples Colony Police Station where some unidentified persons riding on a motorcycle opened fire and shot dead Gulzar who was performing the duty of a security guard outside a mosque.

The attackers managed to escape after the incident. According to police, an investigation has been launched and the culprits involved in the incident will be arrested soon.

Moreover, the police earlier on Wednesday arrested a suspect for allegedly harassing and torturing two women who had overtaken his vehicle.

The incident occurred yesterday within the limits of the Karachi Company area when an influential man attacked two women for overtaking his vehicle.

Police sprang into action and arrested the suspect Jehangir from his residence within two hours and filed a case. The suspect is the son a bureaucrat while the police have also confiscated the vehicle.
