KARACHI: A fire has broken out in a six-floor shopping mall situated in Gulistan-e-Johar claiming the lives of eight people, according to rescue officials.
Firefighters and other rescue organizations are battling a fire that started at the RJ shopping center on Rashid Minhas Road early on Saturday. Seven to eight vehicles and snorkels are being used to put out the fire, according to fire brigade officials.

Thirty to 37 rescue employees are carrying out rescue and relief operations, according to Fire and Rescue Commander Humayun Khan. Fire brigade officials said that the fire had spread from the sixth floor to the fourth floor, and dozens of shops had been burnt due to the fire.
According to fire department officials, because of the intensity of the fire and the falling glass, there is also a fear that people are trapped inside the building that also houses several offices.
