LAHORE: Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Information Firdous Ashiq Awan was embroiled in a heated exchange with PPP MNA Abdul Qadir Mandokhel during a TV programme.
The video of the TV programme by host Javed Chaudhry shows Firdous Ashiq Awan rise from her seat and grab Mandokhel’s collar and then slapped him on the face.
Awan was heard saying that he does not know how to behave with a woman. The host kept trying to stop both of them and a female staff member also restrained Awan with great difficulty when she attempted to hurl a mobile phone towards Mandokhel.
In a statement, Firdous Ashiq Awan said that only one side of the picture was being shown in the discussion with Mandokhel during the show. “By not showing Qadir Mandokhel’s filthy language and insults makes it a one-sided propaganda,” she said.
She said Mandokhel insulted her father and such rhetoric has no place in politics. She demanded legal action should be taken against him and the TV channel should release the full video of the incident.
The incident was condemned by social media users. PPP leader Nabeel Gabol said that legal action would be taken against Firdous Ashiq Awan. Firdous Ashiq Awan is known for her brawls in various programmes. Several years ago, she raised baseless allegations against Kashmala Tariq A few months ago, she was embroiled in a fight with PML-N leader Uzma Bukhari which continued till ever after the programme went off-air.
