KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been facing financial difficulties that have led to the delay in the payment of salaries of some of its officers and officials. However, the airline has denied rumors that its operations are at risk due to the delay in the payment of salaries.
According to the PIA, it has managed to pay the salaries of its group 1 to 4 staff despite facing serious financial difficulties this month, which were further compounded by some necessary payments. However, the salaries of officers and other officials have been delayed. PIA has assured that the salaries will be paid in the next few days.
“All PIA officers, including pilots, are engaged in discharging their duties with responsibility, and all departments of the airline are fully operational,” said PIA.
PIA has also dismissed the rumors that some elements are trying to publish news about influencing the operation, calling it baseless and misleading.
It is worth noting that in a recent meeting of The Senate Standing Committee on Aviation, it was informed that many pilots were leaving the country due to salary cuts in the form of high taxes. The CEO of PIA informed the committee that 15 pilots had recently left the country, and a Supreme Court appeal for hiring young male staff for PIA had not yet been entertained.
Despite these challenges, PIA has assured its customers that it is fully operational and committed to providing safe and reliable air travel services.
