Since Lieutenant General (retired) Asim Saleem Bajwa has resigned from his position as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he has been trending on social media, surprisingly under “Papa John’s” name.
Those who are unaware of what Papa John’s is, it is the fourth largest pizza delivery chain in the United States. It has a chain in Pakistan too, however, aside from its delicious pizza, the company is also known for its controversies especially in our country.
How Bajwa and Papa John’s are connected?
Well, Bajwa and Papa John’s are connected big time. As per a report that surfaced last year alleged that Bajwa’s younger brothers opened their first Papa John’s pizza restaurant in 2002. It was the same year Bajwa started working as a Lieutenant Colonel on the General Pervez Musharraf’s staff.
Interestingly, the growth of the Bajwa family’s business empire in the United States and later in Pakistan directly matches the rise in power of retired general Asim Saleem Bajwa.
It claimed that the brothers of Bajwa own a business empire that set up 99 companies in four countries, including a pizza franchise with 133 restaurants worth an estimated USD 39.9 million.
Out of the total 99 firms, 66 are main companies, 33 are branch companies of some of the main companies while five firms are dead now; coincidence?
