ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cybercrime Wing (CCW) on Tuesday claimed to have apprehended a man, who was accused of obtaining and sharing child pornography on social media platforms in Islamabad.
According to FIA sources, on a tip-off, the Cybercrime Wing raided a house and detained the accused Jameel Khan and recovered a laptop, two cell phones and several devices.
The sources further said a case has been lodged against the accused under Section 20 (offences against the dignity of a natural person), Section 21 (offences against modesty of a natural person and minor) and Section 22 (child pornography) of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016.
According to the first information report (FIR, the accused, Jameel Khan, illegally and unauthorisedly created, administered and operated groups on social media platforms for the sole purpose of obtaining, sharing, consuming, possessing and disseminating pornographic and sexually explicit videos/pictures of minor children.
Khan, through his WhatsApp and Facebook groups, used to “disseminate, transmit, upload, share and upload sexually explicit and exploitation videos/pictures of minors publicly on social media” the FIR stated.
On October 1, The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing had busted a large network operating an international pornographic website from Gujranwala Narowal, arresting one suspect of the gang.
According to sources, the officials of FIA on Tuesday conducted a raid in Narowal and arrest a man allegedly involved in child pornography.
The spokesman for the FIA said the officials conducted the raid after the information on the accused was shared with the Pakistani authorities by the Brazilian government.
After getting information on the accused from Interpol, the FIA took prompt action and arrested the man allegedly involved in child pornography, he had added.
During the raid the FIA team recovered more than 6,000 child pornography videos from his possession, the spokesman said, adding that the laptop of the accused and other devices have been sent to a forensic lab for examination.
He was part of an international gang involved in child pornography, the official said adding that the agency has acquired a four-day physical remand of the accused after registering a case against him.
