A female student was found hanging in the hostel room of Punjab University, Lahore. She committed suicide duo to unknown reasons.
The 5th-semester student at the Institute of Education and Research (IER) was found hanging from a ceiling fan. Habiba reportedly visited a friend’s room in the afternoon to rest. The friend returned at 7:30 pm to find the door locked and received no response to her knocks.
Security personnel arrived and forcibly opened the door, where they found the girl’s lifeless body. It has been noted that her elder sister is also a student in the same department and resides in the same hostel.
Muslim Town police started a probe along with the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA), which quickly arrived on the scene to collect evidence. PU spokesperson said the incident may be a case of suicide, although the police officials are investigating from all angles.
PU community is in mourning as they grapple with the loss of a young life, and further details are awaited as the investigation unfolds.
