Police have reportedly arrested two people after a woman security guard, who was hired through a private firm by the University of Sahiwal, filed a case against five of her fellow guards, alleging that she was gang-raped and filmed five months ago on the campus.
The complainant, who is a resident of Madina Town, said five guards, including the security supervisor, were involved in the incident. She had immediately gone to report the assault to the university administration, with Dr Tariq Masood and the Vice Chancellor’s office, but alleged they preferred suppressing the matter.
She claimed that she was never investigated by the university or, for that matter, be provided with protection. According to the police statement, it is the failure on the part of the university that the case of blackmailing her several times was not looked into at the right time.
As per Dawn, Civil Lines Police Station’s SHO, Rai Nasir, has confirmed that a gang-rape case was registered against five suspects.
He also said that two accused are arrested, one is at large and two are on interim bail till 16 November. Police are reportedly investigating the case, however, they say the delay in the complaint has complicated the verification through a medical examination. Authorities are also tracing the alleged video mentioned by the complainant.
In a statement, University of Sahiwal spokesperson Dr. Ayub claimed no such incident had taken place on the campus and described the allegation as a “conspiracy” by “self-interested elements,” Dawn reported on Thursday.
