LAHORE: A female junior clerk of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations in Punjab Police has been accused of receiving a bribe of Rs450,000.
A woman named Hina, a resident of Lahore’s Johar Town, has claimed that the junior clerk, Sidra Asghar, had defrauded her on the pretense of getting her brother a job in the police force. According to Hina, the junior clerk received the amount claiming it would be given to the DIG Operations.
Hina said she used to visit Sidra’s house for the past five years. Sidra’s mother runs a beauty parlour and they came to know each a few years back. Sidra’s mother then adviced Hina that her brother can get employment in the Punjab police.
Sidra initially demanded a bribe of Rs650,000 to get the job claiming it would be given to higher police officials. Hina paid Rs450,000 and soon afterward, Sidra stopped all contact and even refused to meet her.
The victim had appealed to police officers to take action against the junior clerk and return the amount to her.
