ISLAMABAD: The federal government has extended the red zone of Islamabad to zero point, covering almost all of the federal capital territory. This came just a day after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf started its Long March from Lahore yesterday.

MM News has learnt that the federal government has declared Faisal Avenue, Margalla Road, Bari Imam and Fifth Avenue as parts of the Red Zone. Section 144 will remain imposed in the entire area of Red Zone under which no gathering or congregations will be allowed.
The Supreme Court, it may be recalled, had allowed Tehreek-e-Insaaf to hold a long march and sit-in in Islamabad with assurances that the party would not entry into Red Zone area.
Yesterday, all the routes leading towards the original Red Zone area of the federal capital Islamabad were sealed with containers. The law enforcement agencies have placed containers on Meerat chowk, NADRA chowk and other main entrance points of Islamabad. The route from D-chowk to Red Zone has also been closed.
