The federal government has abolished 17,101 posts under the Right Sizing Policy from the Ministry of Railways under the Right Sizing Policy to reduce government spending.
According to the Ministry of Finance, a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Right Sizing was held on Monday under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Finance Mohammad Aurangzeb in which the progress in right sizing in various ministries and divisions was reviewed.
In a briefing given by the Establishment Division at the meeting, it was informed that 29 ministries and constitutional bodies have confirmed the cancellation of 11,877 posts. 4,660 dying posts have also been verified.
The Finance Minister appreciated the implementation of the decisions of the committee and the efforts of the concerned ministries and departments, during the meeting, the officials of the Ministry of Railways gave a detailed review of their rightsizing measures and briefed that 17,101 posts have been eliminated out of 95,859 posts in the ministry.
Another 5,695 posts are in the process of being eliminated. Railway officials said that another 15,000 posts are planned to be eliminated in the future, the plan presented during the meeting emphasized measures for operational efficiency and better utilization of resources and highlighted the importance of modernizing Pakistan Railways and keeping its operations efficient and functional.h
