ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has convened an important meeting of the federal cabinet today (Tuesday) to discuss the recent Senate elections and the looming threat of en masse resignations and long march announced by Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).
According to details, the agenda of the cabinet meeting consists of 16 points while the key meeting will also review the current economic situation of the country.
The appointment of the managing director of the National Book Foundation will also be discussed for approval. The meeting will also discuss approval of the issuance of licences for prohibited weapons.
Approval of the additional charge of Karachi Port Trust (KPT) chairman is also expected during today’s meeting. Approval of additional charge of chief executive officer (CEO) of Sindh Infrastructure Development Company is also to be taken up while a review of the implementation of gas development schemes is also part of the agenda.
The meeting is also expected to approve amendments to the Rules of Business, 1973. The decisions of the Cabinet Committee on Institutional Reforms will also be ratified. The cabinet will be briefed by the Establishment Division while the approval of guidelines for the use of Social Welfare Fund, 2021, is expected.
