ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Education made an outstanding decision on Thursday to make primary classes bags-free to unburden the students of the capital territory.
According to details, the students will now be relieved of the heavy bags they previously had to take with them to schools and back homes.
To make this possible the education ministry has decided that the students will keep one set of books at school and another at home.
This decision is said to be implemented in the new educational year.
Research has been done proving that musculoskeletal disorders is an increasing concern among schoolchildren. Heavy bags affect their muscles and tendons, leading to secondary damage to nerves and joints in the neck, upper back, shoulders, arms, and hands.
In one study, around 90% of students were found with school bags that weighed more than 15% of their body weight. These students reported shoulder pain. They lean forward to accommodate the weight of the bag, which is also bad for their posture.
