ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) president and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief, Maulana Fazlur Rehman has convened an important meeting of PDM heads today (Friday) in Islamabad.
The meeting, which will be presided over by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, will include a detailed discussion on the current political situation in the country.
Earlier, on Thursday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had met with Maulana Fazlur Rehman to discuss the current political situation in the country. During the meeting, the two strongly condemned the recent attacks by workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on state institutions and damage to government properties.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman also criticized the recent Supreme Court decision regarding Imran Khan’s case, stating that it was a facilitation of a criminal. He questioned whether Imran Khan was under arrest or not, and stated that if any facilitation was proven, the nation would not accept such decisions.
PM Shehbaz and Maulana Fazlur Rehman also discussed future strategies in the wake of the recent decision by the Supreme Court to give relief to PTI chief in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
There are reports suggesting that Maulana Fazlur Rehman has decided to give a full response against the ‘controversial decision’ to release Imran Khan from the Supreme Court in a dramatic manner. Some reports suggest that he plans to stage countrywide protest demonstrations against judicial bias, while others suggest that JUI activists from across the country have been urged to reach Islamabad in the morning to stage a demonstration against the Supreme Court. Maulana Fazlur Rahman is expected to address the gathering.
