Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has stated that he is not hopeful about the release of Imran Khan and, if there is any deal between the establishment and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), he is unaware of it.
While addressing the media, JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said, “The release of the PTI founder seems unlikely at the moment, though political dynamics are uncertain. I am not aware of any deal with the founder of PTI, and I cannot comment on hearsay either.”
In response to a question regarding his alleged role in securing bail for Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi and his sisters, Maulana Fazlur Rehman clarified that these cases were handled independently. He also expressed his support for political protests, stating that PTI’s demonstrations should not be restricted.
Asserting the public’s right to protest, Maulana Fazlur Rehman noted that month-long negotiations on the 226th Constitutional Amendment led to a reduction in the draft from 56 to 22 clauses. He also criticized the compromising stance of the top leadership of political parties.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman blamed the top political leadership, attributing them as a reason for the frail state of democracy. He emphasized his support for a strong military in Pakistan to secure the country’s borders, stressing that a robust army is essential for a secure homeland.
