LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has once again removed Fayyazul Hassan Chohan as spokesman of the Punjab government.
The government has appointed Hasaan Khawar as the new spokesman. He will also serve as Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information and Special Initiatives.
In his reaction, Fayyazul Hassan Chohan said he knew nothing about his removal. He said he would be in a position to say something after some time. Chohan was previously serving as Minister of Prisons for Punjab since August 2018. He had also served as the provincial minister for information.
After his appointment as the SACM, Khawar tweeted: “I’ve been appointed as Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab on Information & Special Initiatives. I’m grateful to CM Usman Buzdar for trusting me for this important role.”
Khawar pledged that he would give his best under Buzdar’s leadership to achieve Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision. This is the third time the Punjab government has removed Chohan as the official spokesperson.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain congratulated Hassan Khawar on his appointment as official spokesperson of the Government of Punjab. In a tweet, he expressed best wishes for the new spokesperson of the Punjab Government.
Chohan had resigned as the provincial information minister in March 2019. He returned as Punjab information minister after nine months in December that year.
He was removed in November 2020 and Firdous Ashiq Aqan was notified as the SACM on information. Chohan was appointed as the provincial government’s spokesperson after Awan’s resignation. He now holds the portfolio of only Punjab prisons minister.
