LAHORE: Fayyaz Al Hassan Chauhan, who holds the portfolio of Punjab prisons minister, has been appointed as the new spokesperson of the Punjab government following the resignation of Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan last week.
According to details, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has approved the appointment of Fayazul Hasan Chohan as the provincial government’s spokesperson.
The Punjab government has appointed spokespersons to help streamline the information dissemination process, defend its stance, and notify the public of its policies.
Speaking on the matter, Chohan expressed gratitude to the leadership for giving him the additional responsibility of the provincial government spokesperson.
He said as the Punjab government spokesperson, “my basic agenda will be to present to the public the provincial government’s achievements.” He also vowed to expose the conspiracies against the Buzdar government.
Chauhan is currently serving as Minister of Prisons for Punjab since August 2018. He has previously served as the provincial minister for information.
Firdous’ resignation
Last week, Special Assistant to the Punjab Chief Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has resigned from his post.
According to details, Firdous Awan directly sent her resignation letter to Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar, who has duly accepted the resignation.
“Chief Minister has been pleased to accept the enclosed resignation tendered by Ms Firdous Ashiq Awan from the office of Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information. Further necessary action may be taken accordingly,” a statement issued by CM Punjab’s Office read.
