ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Friday skipped the National Assembly session despite the directives of the Deputy Speaker.
In a tweet, Fawad Chaudhry expressed that he intended to go to the Parliament House today, however, he added that he skipped the session after three parliamentary reporters and two senators tested positive for COVID-19.

The federal minister further wrote that it is confirmed that the coronavirus has infected reporters and two senators from the Parliament building, “So I am postponing my intention to attend the National Assembly session,” he wrote in a tweet.
Repeating his previous statement, Fawad Chaudhry said that he hoped that a virtual session of the National Assembly would be convened soon where the coronavirus could be discussed satisfactorily.
It may be recalled that the National Assembly session on the coronavirus situation is underway in Islamabad today where members and the federal cabinet are busy expressing their views on the epidemic.
Chaudhry earlier this week termed the parliamentary sessions a ‘waste of time’. The federal minister also wrote a letter to Deputy Speaker in the National Assembly Qasim Suri and maintained that the speeches during the assembly sessions are a mere ‘waste of time’ as the same statements can be made during press conferences.
