ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhary has said that lawyers play the role of a bridge between the bar and the bench, instead of challenging the NAB Ordinance, they should propose reforms to the government.
Newly elected officials led by Ahsan Bhoon, President SCBA, called on the federal minister. On the occasion, Fawad Chaudhry said that the legal community should guide the national affairs, the supremacy of constitution and law, and would welcome the role of lawyers and bar associations in legislation.
He said that lawyers play the role of a bridge between the bar and the bench, leading the legal community for national affairs and supremacy of constitution and law. “Bar associations can play a role in bringing political parties closer to major reforms. Lawyers should propose reforms to the government instead of challenging the NAB Ordinance,” he added.

It may be recalled that on October 6, President Arif Ali had issued the NAB’s Second Amendment Ordinance 2021, which gave him the power to set up several accountability courts and appoint judges.
According to the Presidential Amendment Ordinance, the President, after consulting the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition, will appoint a new Chairman NAB and in case of disagreement, the matter will be referred to a 12-member parliamentary committee in which the members of the government and the opposition will have equal representation.
According to the amended ordinance, the new chairman will be appointed for a term of four years and the outgoing chairman will continue his services until a new chairman is appointed. According to the new amendment, the current or former chairman NAB can be re-appointed as chairman of the bureau.
