KARACHI: Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab hit back at Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry, calling him a turncoat who has served as a ‘rental spokesperson’ for almost all political parties of the country.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi along with Sindh Information Minister Nasir Hussain Shah, Murtaza Wahab while responding to Fawad’s tirade said that the PPP leaders had sacrificed their lives for the country and democracy.
He said speaking against PPP leaders Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto would not help Fawad in securing his job. “It would not be wrong to say that Fawad has not left any party of the country which he did not represent,” he added.
The spokesperson further said that the people of Sindh are aware of the indifferent attitude and unjust policies of the federal government towards them. “Millions of acres of agriculture land of Sindh have been rendered barren as Punjab and the Centre did not give the province its due share in water”, he reiterated.
Taking over the presser, Nasir Hussain Shah said that Fawad was trying to elevate his political stature by making statements against the PPP leadership. “Fawad does not have the authority to ask for records pertaining to the NFC Award granted to Sindh. This is the Sindh Assembly’s right — to inquire about every penny spent,” he added.
The provincial minister also said that the Centre should stop dreaming about ruling the province. “The Centre is not only perturbed by the chief minister’s capabilities, it is downright petrified,” he said.
Fawad, earlier in the day, lashed out at the PPP-led Sindh government for “failing to develop the province despite receiving billions from the Centre in the name of development”.
“Sindh has been given Rs1,600 to Rs1,800 billion in the past three years,” Fawad claimed, adding that, “Sindh’s share has been increased even in this budget. They got so much money but where did it go?”
