LAHORE: Pakistan Sugar Mills Association has demanded the federal government immediately export the excess production of sugar.
According to the details, the Sugar Mills Association says that in the last crushing season, sugar mills made a record 8 million tons of sugar, 2 million tons of sugar is surplus after the domestic consumption of 6 million tons.
The Sugar Mills Association said in its statement that the government will allow the export of 1.3 million tons of added sugar and the price of sugar will not increase due to the export.
According to the association, sugar worth one billion dollars is lying in warehouses. Pakistan can earn one billion dollars annually from sugar exports. This year, sugarcane cultivation has increased by 10% and due to recent rains, there is a possibility of better production of sugarcane.
