Singer Ed Sheeran has announced that he and wife Cherry Seaborn have secretly welcomed their second child.
The singer, 31, took to Instagram to announce the news, sharing a picture of a white pair of baby socks. The couple are already parents to elder daughter Lyra Antarctica, 21 months, whom they welcomed in August 2020.
Ed’s Instagram post was met with congratulatory messages from his fans. The star had announced the birth of Lyra in a similar way, sharing a snap of her baby socks on a blanket alongside his message.
The couple reportedly only confided in their closest family members about the pregnancy. Ed’s spokesperson confirmed to a British daily: “Ed and Cherry recently welcomed a beautiful baby girl and are on cloud nine”.
“They’re so excited for Lyra to have a little sister and the four of them are currently enjoying some precious family time before Ed heads back on tour. We are delighted for them, and we hope that you can respect their privacy at this special time.”

Speaking on the Open house Party podcast in June, Ed revealed he would be ‘super grateful’ to add more members to his family.
The West Yorkshire-born star said: “I would obviously be super grateful to be able to have any more kids, but I think girls are far superior to boys. As a boy myself, I feel like I can say this.”
“I feel like we were so lucky to be able to have one that I think I would obviously love more. But I think we’re so lucky to just have one. So if nothing else happens, I’m so happy, basically.”
In November, Ed revealed having his daughter Lyra Antarctica was a ‘blessing’ and a ‘miracle’ after struggling to conceive with his wife. The singer told how the couple had booked doctors appointments to check everything was okay after ‘trying to have a kid for a while’.
They then welcomed their first child last August, after conceiving during a holiday in 2019 to Antarctica – which inspired the unusual name. They rekindled their romance in 2014 and tied the knot in a small ceremony five years later.
