RAWALPINDI: A woman has appealed to the Prime Minister, chief justice of the Supreme Court and Chief Minister Punjab to provide her speedy justice in the case of her husband’s extrajudicial killing by Rawalpindi police.
Shahida Chaudhry, the widow of Rawalpindi resident Chaudhry Zahid Mahmood, who was killed in a police encounter, appealed to the high-ups for justice alleging that her husband was killed by police officials including, SHO Cantt Aizaz, SHO Bazar Asif, SHO Civil Line Ahsan and others on March 12.
Explaining the details of the incident to MM News, Shahida Chaudhry said that the police had killed her husband in a fake encounter after torture.
She said that the night of March 12 the policeman raided her house and picked up her husband, adding that the police also tortured the entire family. While leaving the house, the policemen took Rs. 2.5 million in cash, gold, jewelry, land registries papers and mobile phones, the woman alleged.
The victim said, “The police killed my husband and accused him of killing police inspector Mian Imran.” However, they did not have any evidence or witnesses, she said, adding the FIR of Mian Imran’s murder was registered in the Civil Line police station which did not include the name of any accused.
Shahida Chaudhry said that even if her husband had committed any crime, the police would have punished her according to the law.
Ms. Shahida, however, lamented that both her husband detained was shot dead in a fake police encounter when she failed to pay a bribe to the police, adding that body of her husband buried by the police while refusing to hand over to the deceased family.
Shahida Chaudhry, while appealing to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Chief Justice of Pakistan, Chief Minister Punjab and IG Punjab, said that justice would be provided to us and the cash and jewelery taken away from our house by the police personnel should be recovered.
The woman appealed to the Prime Minister, Chief Minister Punjab and chief justice of the Supreme Court to provide her speedy justice in the case of her husband’s extrajudicial killing.
