Several fraudulent mobile games available on the Google Play Store are deceiving Pakistani users with false promises of instant wealth, using deepfake videos of local celebrities created with artificial intelligence.
These apps promote themselves through misleading advertisements featuring AI-generated videos of famous Pakistani actors who have no actual association with the games.
One such ad showcases a deepfake video of actor Imran Abbas endorsing a betting game called “Destroy Space Rocks.”
The video also includes fake Easypaisa payment notifications to give the illusion of instant cash rewards, although Easypaisa has no affiliation with these apps. A request for comment has been sent to Easypaisa, and any response will be shared upon receipt.
The mobile game “Deep Space Rocks” has been downloaded over 50,000 times and currently holds a 4.2 rating on the Play Store.
It is developed by a company called Xplancerdev, which also offers two other apps: “Nokengo User” and “Questify.” While there is no confirmed evidence that these additional apps are also scams, users are advised to exercise caution.
In a similar scam, a fake AI-generated video of Indian businessman Mukesh Ambani is being used to create false trust among viewers. These deceptive ads are widely circulating on YouTube, Facebook, and other social media platforms.
