ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad administration has made the wearing of masks in public mandatory as the coronavirus situation started worsening in Pakistan.
Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqat said that section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) has been put in place for the implementation of the order. The Deputy Commissioner warned that legal action will be taken against those neglecting the rule.
The rule will remain in place for the next two months, Hamza Shafqat informed. Moreover, five sectors of the Capital city have been declared coronavirus “hotspots” and will be sealed tomorrow. Those sectors include G-6/2, Sector G-9/1, G-10/4, I-8/3 and I/8-4.
The third wave of coronavirus has entered Pakistan which has led to the implementation of micro-smart lockdown in parts of the country including the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Lockdown has been imposed in the Hayatabad phase, Defense Colony Street, Gulbahar area of Peshawar. A statement issued by the district administration said that smart lockdown has also been implemented in Hayatabad.
The statement said that the purpose of installing micro-smart down is to stop the spread of coronavirus. In the affected areas, food items, medicine, general stores, and ovens will remain open. On the other hand, due to the increase in the number of coronavirus cases in the world, the smart lockdown has been implemented in 16 more areas of the city.
Pakistan’s coronavirus situation has taken a turn for the worse, with total cases zooming past 600,000 to hit 602,536 in the last 24 hours.
