Senior journalist Hamid Mir has made explosive allegations against former spymaster Lt General (retd) Faiz Hameed, accusing him of orchestrating a robbery at the home of a prominent Pakistani lawyer.
Hameed was arrested on Monday and faces charges of alleged misconduct in connection with a private housing scheme. Pakistan’s military later announced the arrest of three retired officers in relation to the investigation into the former spy chief Faiz Hameed.
The lawyer was writing a book on the treason trial of former President Gen. (retd) Pervez Musharraf, and Mir revealed during a chat show on a private news channel that Hameed was heavily involved in the case.
Mir claimed that the robbery was carried out to prevent the lawyer from completing his work on the Musharraf case, with several items stolen during the incident. Following the robbery, the lawyer was approached by the then-army chief, retired General Qamar Javed Bajwa, who apologized for the incident and admitted that the lawyer had been treated unfairly.
Mir also accused Faiz Hameed of involvement in corruption during his tenure as Corps Commander Peshawar, specifically in the DHA Peshawar housing scheme.
