Since 1921, March 8 is celebrated as International Women’s Day when Clara Zetkin, a women’s rights activist of German origin, proposed it to be the day to honour the hard work of women’s rights activists all over the world.
This year marks Pakistan’s fifth year of a significant and highly organized Aurat March. While Karachi, Lahore and Multan organise the event as ‘Aurat March’, Hyderabad, Islamabad, Mardan, and Quetta have organised their protests under the banner of ‘Aurat Azadi March’

Theme
This year, the theme of Aurat March is “Insaaf, Tahafuz, Azaadi”. (Justice, Protection, Freedom).
Aurat March Karachi
This year’s Aurat March will be Jinnah Park formally known as Jinnah Grounds opposite Quaid’s Mausoleum at 3pm tomorrow. Arrangements have been finalised for the march by the organisers after the usual venue of Frere Hall was shifted this year.
Demands
This March calls for accountability for domestic violence against women and calls for women who have been subjected to violence and sexual harassment in the workplace or anywhere.
This year, the main demands of the people will focus on the transgender community. This year, the march calls for solidarity with Baloch students protesting and their legitimate demands.
