Emraan Hashmi has broken his silence on a controversy involving veteran Pakistani actor Javed Sheikh, who claimed that Emraan was dismissive and rude when they first met at Newlands Cricket Stadium in South Africa, as reported by Indian media on Monday.
According to media reports, Javed Sheikh also alleged that during the filming of Jannat, in which he played an underworld don, he and Emraan never spoke. Dismissing the claims as “bizarre,” Emraan stated that he doesn’t recall their first meeting but remembers maintaining cordial relations.
“I was in my twenties then, and he’s much older, so we weren’t friends. We didn’t hang out, but I don’t recall any incident like this,” he clarified. Suggesting a possible miscommunication, he added, “I don’t know what Javed sahab took away from our interactions, but it’s something he has held onto for 16–17 years.” He stated.
“For me, it’s just a giant comedy of errors that I know nothing about,” he said with a bewildered laugh.
Meanwhile, Indian media reports that Emraan has been filming a secret project in Lucknow but returned to Mumbai late Sunday night to celebrate his birthday with family, friends, and fans who traditionally gather outside his home.
“I’m coming home for a day. I’ll take the 4 AM flight on Tuesday and return for a night shoot,” he shared while heading to the airport. Though his wife, Parveen, and son, Ayaan, are currently abroad, his father will be there to celebrate with him.
