SAN FRANCISCO: Tech billionaire and the new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk was met with a mixture of boos and cheers from an audience at a Dave Chappelle comedy show Sunday night, and the footage is pretty rough, even if someone doesn’t particularly like Musk.

“Ladies and gentlemen, make some noise for the richest man in the world,” Chappelle said near the end of his set at the Chase Center.

The crowd erupted into a mixture of cheers and boos, before the boos clearly won out, according to footage posted on Twitter. [Update, 6:40 a.m. ET: The footage appears to have been deleted from Twitter for some reason, but you can still watch it below.]

The crowd in the video can be heard jeering Musk, whose recent purchase of the social media platform has attracted criticism due to concerns about mass layoffs and looser content moderation.

“Ladies and gentlemen, make some noise for the richest man in the world,” Chappelle tells the audience. A number of audience members cheered — though there was also a loud chorus of boos, too.

“You weren’t expecting this, were you?” Musk tells Chappelle following the boos.

Chappelle responds: “It sounds like some of those people you fired are in the audience.”

Later in the video, Chappelle says: “All these people that are booing, I’m just pointing out the obvious — they have terrible seats in the stadium.”
